Mental health includes our emotional, psychological, and social well-being. It affects how we think, feel, and act. It also helps determine how we handle stress, relate to others, and make choices. This May TEDxSurreyUniversity is bringing 'Let's Talk: Mental Health' to Surrey during Mental Health Awareness Week 2018 (14th May-20th May).

    Talk: 'How To Lose Weight And Isolate Yourself'

  • Katie Scott

    Talk: Beat(ing) Eating Disorders Katie Scott is a First Year Nutrition & Food Science Student raising awareness of eating disorders through her own recovery experiences to spread a message of hope to those currently struggling. She believes that speaking out is the first step to fixing misconceptions, and the only way to move towards ALL sufferers feeling their issues are valid.

  • Tom Shoolbraid

    Talk: The Power Of Listening After graduating from The University of Nottingham with a Masters' in mathematics, Tom chose to ignore his degree for a while and run a student support service called Nightline. A former volunteer himself, Tom now trains Surrey Students in active listening. On May 14th he'd like to share some thoughts on how we can use our ears to help those around us.
