Hi! I’m Maayra Deorah, a member of the Event Management team at TEDxCNS. I’m driven by purpose and work meticulously towards creating meaningful impact. I have a keen interest in business, alongside a strong passion for baking and a love for organisation and structure. I’m always excited by opportunities to learn, contribute, and create a difference!

I am truly passionate about baking. From cookies and cakes to a variety of breads, it is where I find myself most at ease. Baking serves as a creative outlet that allows me to experiment, unwind, and enjoy the process regardless of the outcome. Whether a recipe turns out perfectly or not, each experience teaches me something new, helps refine my skills, and makes the journey just as rewarding as the final product. Beyond baking, I have a deep passion for learning and research. I am fascinated by a wide range of subjects, including business operations, geopolitics, the rise and evolution of empires, global economies, and history. I enjoy exploring how societies, institutions, and markets develop over time, as well as understanding the interconnected factors that shape the world. This inquisitiveness drives me to expand my knowledge and view issues or subjects from diverse perspectives. I'm also passionate about giving back to the community, via service initiatives such as donation drives and volunteering, as well as supporting NGO's and local schools or essential facilities that help the underprivileged or marginalised communities. Some key initiatives I've focused on and continue to do so revolve around education and spreading financial literacy and independence, which are key forces driving better living standards and equality.

My idea is simple but important: kindness and equality should not depend on race, colour, gender, or appearance, but because they are human beings. Every human deserves to be treated with dignity and respect, not exploitation or prejudice. Alongside this, I believe that community service should move beyond being a one-time act or a checkbox for corporate social responsibility. Instead, it should be rooted in long-term, meaningful commitment, which is focused not on helping as many people as possible in a superficial way, but on genuinely supporting individuals or families over time. Real impact is not about one-off gestures, like a single donation of food, but about sustained care and responsibility rather than temporary assistance, such as supporting a family’s basic needs consistently over years rather than days.

I'm a purpose-driven leader guided by a belief in continuous growth, positive thinking, and kindness as principles in both, life and leadership. I strive for excellence through careful planning, attention to detail, and a commitment to doing things to the best of my ability. Beyond leadership, I find balance and creativity in baking, which teaches me patience and the value of learning through trial and error. I am also deeply curious about how the world works, especially in areas like business, geopolitics, and the ideologies that shape societies. Together, these experiences shape my perspectives: to stay curious, think positively, treat others with kindness, and keep improving with every experience, becoming a better version of myself everyday.
