The TED story
I have been a TED fan for years. After joining TED Translators in 2014, except for the talks, I started to focus more on the background of those brilliant translators which I often overlooked in the fast.
I was greatly impressed by some outstanding Mandarin translations that delivered the essential ideas in an appropriate and dramatic way. Meanwhile, I also came across some translations that didn’t look very appropriate and even confusing, which might greatly detract enchantment of those talks.
That’s the moment I realized how important the role of language coordinator and collaborations between volunteers are - that's also the reason I considered leaning in to contributor as a Language Coordinator.
Being a translator and a LC at TED Translators, besides scientific topics which are closer to my background, I also challenged myself on other interesting topics – music, architecture, education, psychology, economics, etc. Glad to work with the TED team as well as other language coordinators and volunteers who have been inspiring me by their talent and hard work. This is definitely one of the amazing and fruitful adventures that I've ever experienced!
