• Gayatri Buragohain

  Gayatri started the not-for-profit organization Feminist Approach to Technology (FAT) in 2007. FAT works to promote women’s participation in all levels of science and technology, and questions the impact of the gender gap within technology on the society. Educated as an engineer, Gayatri’s first introduction to feminism and women’s rights was her employment at a women’s rights organization as a technical support person. It was during this time that Gayatri conceived the idea of an organization empowering women to learn, use and make technology and breaking the stereotype that women cannot be adept at technology. With the conviction that gender equity in science and technology is an important change needed towards emancipation of women in today’s techno-crazy world, Gayatri left her job to work towards this cause. For her dedication towards promoting women in technology, she was awarded the Change Agent Award by Anita Borg Institute for Women and Technology of San Fransisco, USA in 2010. Recently Gayatri moved back to Assam to join Foundation for Social Transformation (FST) as its Executive Director.

• Arman Ali

  Arman Ali, 32, is currently Executive Director of Shishu Sarothi, Centre for Rehabilitation and Training for Multiple Disability, a not-for-profit organization which has been working in the area of disability in Northeast India since 1987. A well-known and committed disability activist, Ali is also Member, Child Welfare Committee, Kamrup (Metro), Assam, Chairperson of the Zonal Coordination Committee, Northeast, Rehabilitation Council of India, a statutory body under the Union Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Member of the Board of Directors, ARUNIM (Association for Rehabilitation under National Trust Initiative of Marketing), Executive Member, National Handicapped Finance Development Corporation (NHFDC), and Executive Council Member, Asom Sarba Siksha Abhiyan. Ali holds the merit of winning the National Award in Public Recognition for Outstanding Performance as Most Efficient Disabled Employee for the Year 1998 from then Indian Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee. He was also awarded twice by Infosys for delivering operational excellence – the Infosys Excellence Award for Inclusivity and Diversity from Infosys for the year 2007 and the Ramp Award for Exit Counselling for the year 2008. Ali is also recipient of Outstanding Individual Award 2007 constituted by Atma Nirbhar – Ek Challenge, a civil society organization based in Northeast India and Super Idol Award from CNN IBN 7 for his work in the disability sector.

• Lueit Parasar Hazarika

  Lueit Parasar Hazarika, is an alumnus of JJ College of Architecture. His penchant for sustainable design and architecture, has taken him to innumerable places across India, where he has collaborated with the who’s who in the field of Architecture on many projects. He is currently, the Chief Architect at 'STEM Architecture', a guwahati based design and architecture firm. His passion lies in music, and often pens down songs about social issues.
