TEDxMakassar

Makassar's population is incredibly diverse with a amazing heritage from traders, colonizers, religious movements, and many different ethnic groups. The traditional communities are still going strong but are being joined by rapidly growing new ones. As the gateway to eastern Indonesia, it is the entry point for new ideas, new people, and new movements, some homegrown, some national and even international. This year's TEDxMakassar is taking the opportunity to hear from the leaders and founders of these communities (from a trash collector collective, to a Barongsai dance group, a knitting club, a green Makassar movement, and a traditional market seller association), to find out what their idea worth sharing is and how they are making change happen.
