TEDxDanjielin Road Play begins with a simple question: what can play reveal about a place, and what can a place teach us about how to play? In Lhasa, selected Play@TED talks become a starting point rather than the center of the experience. Participants will move, play, collaborate and encounter traditional and locally rooted games from across the Himalayan region. Here, play is approached as a living language — one through which communities carry memory, imagination, rules, relationships and ways of seeing the world. By moving beyond a conventional talk format, the event invites participants to experience ideas through movement, interaction and shared discovery. The Himalayan region is home to diverse communities, each with its own traditions, stories and ways of playing. Through these experiences, participants are encouraged to explore how games connect generations, reflect cultural identities and create unexpected connections between people. As familiar rules are rediscovered and new possibilities emerge, play becomes a way of asking questions, crossing boundaries and seeing the familiar from a different perspective. TEDxDanjielin Road Play invites participants to rediscover curiosity through the simple act of playing, and to consider how the places we inhabit continue to shape the ways we learn, imagine and connect.
