TEDxPHUHS Youth

“That’s not normal.” It’s a phrase that can express surprise, signal concern, or dismiss something we don’t yet understand. But it can also be the beginning of an important question: Why do we accept some things as normal, and what might change if we stopped? At TEDxPHUHS Youth 2027, “That’s Not Normal” invites us to examine the assumptions, habits, and expectations that shape our lives. What have we come to accept simply because “that’s how it’s always been”? What have we overlooked because it doesn’t fit our expectations? And which ideas that seem unusual today could help us build a better tomorrow? Through thought-provoking talks rooted in experience, inquiry, and evidence, speakers will explore the familiar from unfamiliar angles. Their ideas will ask us to reconsider what we take for granted, recognize possibilities we may have missed, and think more deeply about ourselves and the world around us. Some things we consider normal deserve to change. Some things we call abnormal deserve to be understood. Learning to question both can open the door to discovery, belonging, and meaningful progress. Join us for an evening of ideas that matter; ideas that spark conversation, broaden understanding, and inspire us to act. Come curious. Leave questioning what’s normal, and imagining what’s possible.
