Mariam Khaled
AI Researcher
Mariam is the person who makes you question everything you thought you knew about AI. She is a PhD fellow at Aarhus University, exploring AI not just as code, but as a cultural force that shapes how we live, imagine, and argue about the future. Part speculative designer and part professional metaphor-buster, she digs into the stories we tell about AI: what happens when machines are said to “dream”, “hallucinate”, or “think”? How do these ideas shape the technologies we build - and the society we live in? Rooted in STS and Critical Data Studies, her work is about rethinking AI through critical thinking, design, and culture - so we can imagine, critique, and shape technologies that are more ethical, responsible, and human-aware. I’m affiliated the Center for Critical Data Practices and the Digital Aesthetics Research Center (DARC), where I get to team up with brilliant minds asking the unruly questions society has yet to ask 🕵️♀️🌐
