• Emma Pascau

  Student

  Emma is a 17-year-old student who is naturally curious about how the world works. She loves learning about other cultures and languages, and about the politics, history and art that have shaped society. A year as an exchange student in Ireland changed the way she sees life, teaching her to embrace every opportunity and value different perspectives. In her talk, she shares that mindset and encourages others to step out of their comfort zone.

• Guillermina Dall'Acqua

  Guillermina is a 17-year-old student in her second year of the IB Diploma Programme at IES José Saramago. Born and raised in Spain, she is half Italian. She has always been curious about the influence celebrities have over so many people, especially through social media. Her talk explores how the famous people we admire shape the way we see things, and where their voice ends and ours begins.

• Manuel Mendes

  IB student

  Manuel is an IB Diploma Programme student from Madrid with a deep interest in science and technology. Curious since childhood about how things work, he enjoys connecting ideas across physics, chemistry, history and literature, and hopes to study engineering abroad. Outside school he trains in kickboxing and volunteers at an animal shelter. In his talk, he argues that failure is a sign of growth, not something to hide from.

• Manuela Caparrós

  Manuela has played volleyball since she was eight and has been involved in sport since the age of five. Along the way she has learned that exercise goes far beyond physical fitness: sport has helped her face challenges, manage her emotions and grow both on and off the court. In her talk, she invites the audience to see physical activity from a new perspective and make it part of their lives.

• María Párraga

  María is a curious and ambitious student with a passion for mathematics and science, as well as for art, especially ballet and fashion. Always determined to give her best, she began to wonder where the line lies between wanting to improve and expecting ourselves to be perfect. Drawing on psychology, neuroscience and her own experience, her talk shows why imperfection is not a weakness but an essential part of being human.

  María has always been fascinated by why people are so different from one another. Raised mainly by her grandparents after her parents separated when she was two, she grew curious about how our upbringing shapes who we become. Her talk explores how parenting styles affect children's confidence and academic performance, and why success at school depends on far more than intelligence.

• Marta Roa

  Marta is a 17-year-old IB student at IES José Saramago in Madrid. She is passionate about science, but above all about understanding the world around her, especially language and communication. Combining science with personal experience, her talk explores how finding the right words for our emotions and experiences can change the way we understand ourselves and the world.

• Nadia Vilsan

  Nadia is a 17-year-old student in her second year of the IB Diploma Programme at IES José Saramago. She has competed in rhythmic gymnastics at national level since the age of six and sings in a choir. Her lifelong interest in literature, philosophy, history and politics shapes her talk, which explores why questioning the world is essential to building a fairer society.

  Paula has always been split between the sciences and the arts, two worlds often presented as opposites. Trying to connect them has led her to many different hobbies and taught her to look at things from several angles, from the maths behind drawing to the creativity behind urban engineering. That same habit helped her see labels for what they are, the subject of her talk.

• Rocío García Uría

  Student

  Rocío is a 17-year-old student from Madrid in her final year of secondary school. Passionate and outgoing, she discovered a love of public speaking through debating competitions and enjoys the way communication brings people together and gives ideas a voice. Like many teenagers, she is still working out what her future holds. Her talk brings together two things she cares about: understanding the world and finding creative ways to express what words cannot capture.
