Lienz Reve Salvacion
Student Grade 11
Lienz Reve Salvacion: A Journey Across Borders, Education, and Self-Discovery Lienz Reve Salvacion is a Filipino citizen and Grade 11 senior high school student at the Adventist University of the Philippines Academy. Born in Thailand to Filipino parents and raised across Thailand, Laos, the Philippines, and China, Lienz has experienced a childhood shaped by cultural diversity, educational transitions, and the challenges of growing up between different environments. His journey has developed his interest in student life, life’s lessons. Lienz was born at the youngest sibling in his family, sporting a 7- and 8-year age gap with his older siblings. From then on, his brothers, having a superior head start in development aided Lienz through the preliminary stages of his life from a more grounded position. However, this also meant he didn’t exactly grow up sharing the same struggles they faced at the same time.
Yujie Wang
Grade 12 student
The speaker is a Grade 12 student who has firsthand experience with the academic pressures associated with important examinations, including Advanced Placement (AP) exams. Throughout the preparation process, the speaker has experienced the stress and anxiety that can arise from high academic expectations and the desire to achieve good results. At times, feeling overly anxious while practicing exam questions has made it difficult to perform as expected, leading the speaker to reflect on the relationship between anxiety, concentration, and academic performance. These experiences have sparked an interest in understanding how exam-related stress affects students' confidence, well-being, and approach to learning. The speaker recognizes that many students face similar challenges as they prepare for important exams and navigate expectations about their academic futures. Through this TEDx talk, the speaker hopes to explore practical ways to manage exam anxiety.
Ziqing Lin
Grade 12
Lin Ziqing, who also goes by Selene, is a twelfth-grade student in Class 16 at Xiamen Yingcai School. She is currently in her final year of high school, preparing for graduation and the transition to university. Her academic life has been shaped by the standard expectations placed on a high-achieving student in the Chinese education system — strong grades, a demanding curriculum, and the pressure to make "sensible" choices about her future. That experience has given her a firsthand understanding of the tension between external expectations and personal aspiration, which is the central concern of her TEDx talk. Selene's interest in the topic she will present did not begin as an academic exercise. It grew out of her own observations of the people around her — classmates, friends, and public figures — who seemed to be following paths that had been chosen for them rather than by them.
