  • Leonardo Zúñiga Argüello

When I think about the impact stories have on us, I understand it isn't the narrative or the characters alone that stay with us, it is what they awaken inside. Books give us a quiet space, where we are able to explore our inner world without stress, expectations, or judgment. The focus of this TEDx talk is on that quiet, internal transformation that happens while we read, how stories help us discover the hidden parts of ourselves, and how books help us question aspects of our lives. For me, literature has been a mirror. Through characters, I have recognized emotions I could not name and possibilities I didn't know belonged to me. Through the narrative of books I´ve learned to question myself about my identity, and on life's purpose; this has led me to find the person I want to become. Reading allowed me to grow, to confront fears I used to avoid, and to imagine new versions of myself I wasn't ready to share with the world yet. In this talk, I want to show how stories guided me, helping myself understand who I am, my emotions, and the values shaping who I want to be. My goal is to inspire others to see reading not as an academic task or something we do because we should, but as a journey of self reflection that leads to self acceptance, growth, and well-being
