• Alberto Oqueli

  Mr. Alberto Oqueli is currently the IT director at Yangon International School. As the coach for both Robotics and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu at YIS, he is deeply involved in the school community. Additionally, his pursuit of an EDD in educational leadership showcases his commitment to lifelong learning and personal development. His background as an IT director in West Africa and having served 13 years in the US Marine Corps have given him perspectives that transcend borders. Above all these experiences, he is most passionate about being a dad.

• David Devine

  IB Economics teacher, IB Coordinator at Yangon International School IB Coordinator and Economics & Theory of Knowledge Teacher Seeking Alpha Financial Analyst with 15 years of experience Passionate about ensuring financial literacy We are thrilled to welcome Mr. David Devine, a global educator and curriculum leader with over a decade of experience teaching IB and AP Economics across Asia and Latin America. Having served in key leadership roles, including IB DP Coordinator, Curriculum Coordinator, and CAS Coordinator, his work focuses on designing future-ready business and economics programs that connect learning to the real world. Passionate about experiential and inquiry-based education, Mr. David Devine has also founded student Investing and Entrepreneurship Clubs, where students collaborate with local businesses and apply economic concepts in practice. Through his work, Mr. David Devine strives to build education systems that foster both entrepreneurial thinking and global citizenship, preparing students not only for university but for life.

• Khaing Nay Yee @ Kennedy

  Kennedy, Khaing Nay Yee, is a junior at Yangon International School and the president of the school’s Interact Club. Passionate about mental health advocacy, she founded the first Interact Club in Myanmar—part of Rotary International’s global network of youth service organizations that empower students to create positive change. An active and dedicated member of the school community, Kennedy is currently coordinating Leik Pyar—meaning “butterfly” and “soul” in Burmese—a school-wide event that brings together workshops led by external organizations, students, and teachers to celebrate community connection. With interests spanning psychology, philosophy, and gymnastics, she is committed to fostering spaces where young people can learn, reflect, and support one another.

• Raphaël Ascoli

  Raphaël Ascoli is the founder of Blue Temple, an architecture and design studio based in Yangon centered on implementing unconventional bamboo construction techniques to address the affordable housing problem in Myanmar. A graduate from McGill University and shaped by experiences across China, Japan, and Myanmar, Raphaël dedicates his work to rethinking how architecture can respond to social challenges. Through his initiative Housing NOW, he and his team develop initiatives ranging from micro-architecture proposals to public space designs on an urban scale to data-driven mapping projects on a national level.

• Stephen Pau

  Stephen Pau Sian Zuun is a junior at Yangon International School and the founder of the school’s Culture and Charity Club. Driven by a passion for celebrating diversity and honoring tradition, he has created spaces where students can explore, share, and appreciate different cultures in meaningful ways. An avid member of the community as both a leader and performer, Stephen is deeply involved in Model United Nations, Student Council, and musical productions. He spearheaded Cultural Night, the first student-led culture-based event at YIS. He is also passionate about philosophy and theology, exploring questions of meaning, ethics, and belief both inside and beyond the classroom.
