In a world full of uncertainties, the future can feel both exciting and intimidating. While we often search for certainty, it is in the unwritten nature of the future that we find our greatest opportunities. Our choices today are the ink that writes tomorrow’s story, shaping not just our own paths but also the communities we belong to. Unwritten Futures explores the limitless possibilities that lie ahead when we realize the future isn’t fixed but open and currently waiting to be shaped. It is a reminder that our lives are not created by the past or by the expectations placed upon us. This theme invites us to reflect on the uncertainty of the future, not as fear, but as freedom. The prompt encourages us to see every challenge as a blank page and recognize that we are the authors of our own stories. Unwritten Futures calls us to imagine boldly with the courage to create what has never been written before.

  • Anna Matsuhisa

    Student

    Anna is currently a student who loves spending time outdoors and exploring nature. As a student, using AI has become very common and until recently, she wasn't aware of the ecological impacts of using AI like many of us. Upon finding out, she was determined to find a way to share with friends and others about the impacts that we cause carelessly simply from not knowing.

  • Eden Luu

    Student

    Eden, like most juniors in high school, is extremely familiar with the universal feeling of anxiety. As one of the most common mental health disorders worldwide, she hopes to provide new insight and understanding into why anxiety may not be the villain it is often perceived as, but rather, how it can become something much greater through the use of her own experiences and research.

  • Luzy Kohnlein

    Student

    Luzy Kohnlein is a senior at Jakarta Intercultural School. She has a strong interest in history, law, and the ways information shapes collective belief and individual decision-making. She is passionate about critical thinking and media literacy in an increasingly digital world. Outside the classroom, Luzy enjoys playing tennis and journaling on the ideas that inspire her work.

  • Robin Carter

    Teacher

    Dr Carter is an educator with a particular interest in inspiring students to discover and explore the world around them for the joy of it. He was lucky enough to have read a few of the right books at the right age to ignite a passion for Chemistry and Nanotechnology that eventually led him to get his PhD in nanomaterials from Oxford University. Since becoming a teacher he has tried to help students ignite a similar fascination for the world around them, and help them develop the skills to explore it.
