UNDER Pressure: Redefining Success in Education.
I’m currently going through the education system, so I understand the pressure that comes with school, exams, and expectations. I’m interested in a future within the health science field. I’m passionate about talking about student pressure and wellbeing, and I will use my own experience to remind others that it’s okay to feel overwhelmed sometimes. Also, I want to encourage students to believe in themselves and keep going, even when things feel difficult. My talk is about the pressure students experience in education and how it builds over time. I talk about how school often makes us feel like there is always more we should be doing, even when we’re trying our best. I explore where this pressure comes from, including exams, expectations, and comparison with others. Most importantly, my talk focuses on reminding students that feeling overwhelmed is normal and that believing in yourself and not giving up matters more than any grade.
Charlie Keenan
The Future of Design.
I’m Charlie Keenan, I am an engineering student from Liverpool with a curiosity for problem solving and viewing problems from a different angle. Alongside my studies, I explore how ideas from biology, transport, and materials can influence better design, particularly at small scales where structure and behaviour begin to blur. Through my research and design, I’m interested in challenging how we think about the future of engineering. Not as something we impose on the world, but as something we build in dialogue with it.
Conor Ireland
Unlocking the Capabilities of Cohesive Teams.
I am Conor Ireland, an 18 year old college student who wants to spread the word about three capabilities anyone needs to achieve to work cohesively within a team.
Jessica Gardiner
Post Truth Society - What It Is and How To Fix It.
My name is Jessica Gardiner. I am an A Level student, studying English Literature, Government & Politics, and Sociology at Cronton Sixth Form . I am passionate about social justice, and I pride myself in being politically active and conscious. Today, I will be discussing what I believe is the biggest problem in society - our disregard of truth. It is vital to mention that this talk uses emotive language - I believe that this will not take away from the truth, but rather effectively communicate it. I will explain the ways in which we may subconsciously disregard the truth, and explore humanity's separation from reality in three areas; AI, institutions and scapegoating. As well as this, I hope to provide a solution in how we should tackle these issues, and the ways in which we can work together to achieve a more truth-based, rather than truthless, society.
Jessica Ross
What’s Wrong With Him?
My name is Jessica Ross. I study A Level Law, Criminology, and English Literature. I am part of the Cronton Sixth Form debate team and the Tomorrow's Lawyers programme. My speech focuses on the problems families face in day to day life, regarding disabled family members and their needs. My interests are painting, and I enjoy focusing on my academic performance throughout college.
Joseph Murphy
Yes, Nuclear Energy is Dangerous.
I’m Joseph. I’ve always been passionate about engineering and physics as subjects. As such, I gained a passion for both nuclear energy and aerospace. I decided to do this talk and discuss nuclear energy and my passion for it. I will go over the perceived dangers of nuclear power and explain the protocols and safety measures we have today. In particular I will discuss nuclear fission as a process, radiation and its types, exposure to radiation, the fear of nuclear power, modern safety precautions, and why the Chernobyl reactor had the effect it did and why it failed.
Josie Brown
From Chrysalis to Crisis.
My name is Josie, I’m a 17 year old A Level student studying Biology, Psychology and Environmental Science. I’ve always had a passion for animals, but as I got older I gravitated towards butterflies and moths because I found their lifecycle so interesting. I have always loved being outdoors, and any activities that involve being in the natural world. I want to share my passion with other people to help benefit the environment in anyway I can before it’s too late.
Katie Brown
Will AI Save the Earth or Kill It?
My name is Katie and I am studying A Level Biology, Chemistry, and Mathematics at Cronton Sixth Form. Living in the modern era, we have been introduced to new ideas. One of which is AI. In my speech, I hope to clarify theories about AI, and how it can be used in modern day life. I aim to question if the advantages of using AI will outweigh the dangers of using it. Each day hundreds of people use AI, without truly knowing the effects of what they are doing when they click the button. My speech will identify the fundamentals of AI, and will focus on different aspects that AI will now effect. I will address societal, environmental and industrial uses of AI. Will AI stop the planet from more harm, or will it cause irreparable damage?
Rio Palavissini
Why You Should Take a Chance On Life.
I come from Warrington and study acting at college and have a deep passion and interest for it. The talk is really meaningful to me as it was inspired by events that have happened over my lifetime. The talk itself is basically why our lives so special and important and why we should waste such an oppurtunity that we will never get again and that is experiencing life to its fullest and what can stop us doing this and why it’s important to keep control of our lives.
Yona Dyar
Law and Morality: What is Right and Wrong?
I am a friendly, passionate person with a strong interest in Law and good ethical questions. By the end of the talk, I hope that I have transferred by passions into your minds. My talk of Law and Morality is about clearly stating what they both actually are, alongside how they link; and of course, how they do not. I will get you to question your sense of right and wrong, and your criminal identity. By the end of my talk you will learn to ask questions about hopefully everything.
