Aaliyah Maura
Aaliyah Maura, M.S., LMFT, is a licensed marriage and family therapist whose work explores the psychology of self-advocacy and the hidden barriers that keep people from using their voice. After years of navigating unexplained symptoms before being diagnosed with Stage IV endometriosis, Aaliyah became passionate about helping people become informed, collaborative partners in their own healthcare. What began as a personal journey evolved into a broader exploration of why speaking up can feel so difficult—not only in medical settings, but in relationships, the workplace, leadership, and everyday life. Throughout her career, Aaliyah has worked with individuals, couples, families, and survivors of domestic violence, helping people navigate life's most complex relationships and experiences with greater confidence and authenticity. Today, she serves as a behavioral health clinician within a primary care clinic, where she helps patients process the emotional impact of chronic health conditions, major lifestyle changes, and the challenges that often accompany long-term wellness. Working alongside primary care providers has deepened her understanding of the powerful connection between physical health, mental health, and the quality of the relationships people have with their healthcare teams. Her insights have been featured in Essence and The Knot, and she has appeared on multiple podcasts discussing relationships, emotional health, and self-advocacy. Through both her clinical work and speaking, Aaliyah is passionate about exploring why using our voice can feel so difficult—and what becomes possible when we understand the barriers beneath it. Outside of her professional work, Aaliyah enjoys traveling, discovering new restaurants, attending live concerts, and spending time with the people she loves.
Alexus Grace Rhone
Alexus Grace (Rhone) is a writer, producer, and artistic theologian devoted to exploring the power of truth when ‘dressed’ in story. Founder of Truth Meet Story, Alexus tells stories about the sweetness of Black girls and the compassion of Black women on diverse platforms - on page, stage, screen, web, radio, and podcasts. She entered the creative ecosystem publishing a YA novel series targeting reluctant readers. Premature Pleasures, Secret Shame, Backseats and Bleachers: A High School Love Story, and Cover The Coo are page-turning “mirrors” and love notes to her readers. Over the past 25 years, she expanded her storytelling repertoire to include stage productions “Call & Response,” “Ancient Of Ways: For Colored Girls Who’ve Considered Ifa When Jesus Came Up Short,” “Pitching My Tent Too Close To Sodom: Justice For Rosa Lee Ingram”; digital storytelling series’ “#TheBounceBackRDU,” “#Proverbs32,” and award-winning documentary “Religion, Philosophy & Mental Health in Black Americans.” Deeply impacted by the creative journey of Alice Childress, Alexus writes, directs, and produces original content for this context. The burden of this moment in history to counter the attempts to erase Black women’s contributions and Black girls’ value undergirds the framing and tone of her narratives. She holds a Master of Arts in Theology from Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, California, and a Bachelor of Journalism from the University of Texas at Austin.

Djuana Lamb Morrison
Djuana Lamb Morrison, SPHR, is a Human Resource Management practitioner, organizational development strategist, TEDx speaker, educator, and lifelong learner who believes life is lived in seasons, and every season offers an opportunity to grow. For more than three decades, she has helped organizations develop leaders, design learning experiences, and guide people through change across corporate, nonprofit, and higher education. While serving as a Talent Development Strategist at a local college, Djuana stepped away from her career to become the primary caregiver for her aging mother. During that season, she recognized that the marketplace had evolved. Drawing from her background in organizational development, she placed herself on her own Performance Improvement Plan (PIP), not because she lacked experience, but because she knew she needed to develop the skills required to navigate a rapidly changing world. She became a student again. Determined to embrace life's epic stretch assignments, Djuana earned AI certifications, built AI-powered learning games and learning experiences, began teaching women how to confidently use artificial intelligence, created digital content, stepped onto live video, became a TEDx speaker, completed a tandem parachute jump, and even retrained her Jack Russell Terrier, Wallace, to perform tricks on command. Each experience strengthened what she calls her "courage muscle." Inspired by the wisdom of Ecclesiastes, Djuana believes we are not defined by a single season but by our willingness to grow through each one. Her message is simple: When life changes the assignment, don't shrink from it. Get busy becoming the person your next season requires.

Most audiences know Lemar for her expertise in win-win negotiations. This TEDx Talk, however, reflects a deeply personal mission. Her first board was with CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates), advocating for children navigating the foster care system. Through that experience, she learned that African American children are disproportionately represented in foster care and are adopted at lower rates than children of other racial backgrounds. When she and her husband decided to start a family, that knowledge led them to pursue adoption. In this TEDx Talk, Lemar shares the adoption story of their beloved son and challenges common misconceptions about adoption in the USA. Her hope is that people who want to become parents will discover that infants and children are waiting to be adopted here in America. Every child should have the security, stability, and unconditional love of a family.

What began as one family's journey through fear, uncertainty, and advocacy became a lifelong mission to help others discover that the power of presence can transform lives—not only for those we love, but for ourselves. Drawing on more than 20 years of leadership in healthcare, along with her experience as a nonprofit founder, author, and special needs advocate, Rita has dedicated her work to helping families, professionals, and communities create spaces where every voice is valued, even when it cannot be spoken. Today, Rita is the founder of Silent Voyces, a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering families of children with disabilities through advocacy, education, resources, and community.
