• Aditya Desai

  Junior

  In his free time, Aditya likes reading about new developments in science and technology, taking photos, and spending time with friends. His favorite natural phenomenon is the northern lights, both because of the science and the beauty.

• Alex Lee

  Junior

  Alex is extremely passionate about affordable housing, especially in his local Seattle area. During his free time, Alex enjoys running, fishing, and hanging out with his friends.

• Deniz Iyigun

  Sophomore

  As a member of the North American Vexillological Association (NAVA), an organization for flag scholarship, Deniz has presented research in the field of vexillology and advocated for flag redesign efforts in his communities. In his free time, Deniz enjoys rowing, hiking, and playing the flute.

• Dilara Yilmaz

  Sophomore

  A student researcher and STEM advocate, Dilara is passionate about empowering young people to use curiosity for real-world change. After a personal experience with her brother’s illness sparked her interest in medical research, Dilara went on to develop award-winning computational biology research. Outside of academics, she enjoys cooking, listening to music, and spending time with friends.

• Kellen Heraty

  Senior

  Kellen has spent the past few years building AI systems, from Lakeside school's in-house AI platform Andromeda to co-founding Sculptor AI, an open-source research lab. Outside of AI, Kellen enjoys rowing and playing bass with a wide range of groups.

• Lakeside Jazz Club

  Performer

  Lakeside Jazz Club is a group of Lakeside student musicians. This performance includes Milan Khrishnan (tenor), Aadi Muthuswamy (tenor), Remy Larhs (alto), Owen Smith (trombone), Stella JT (bass), Hugo Flanagan (piano), and Wilson Parry (drums).

• Lucia Horvat

  Performer

  Lucia loves dance as much as her family and quite possibly more than her earthly possessions. Lucia has been dancing since she was little, taking lessons in various genres such as ballet, jazz, and hip-hop. She performed in the Lakeside musical (Anything Goes) as an ensemble member and is extremely excited to have performed on the TEDx stage, which she has long admired. Lucia is an avid writer and reader, whose favorite authors include Agatha Christie, J.R.R. Tolkien, and Stephen King.

  In his free time, Matt loves to run track, play the guitar, and spend time with friends. His favorite song to play on the guitar is “Starting Over” by Chris Stapleton.

• Mireya Williams

  Freshman

  A coxswain for the Lakeside crew team, aspiring biologist, and young novelist, Mireya is passionate about understanding people and the world around her with a scientific curiosity; as the founder of her podcast club, the Social Lens, she strives to spark conversation around biases and challenge assumptions.

• Sienna Olson

  Junior

  Sienna is a volunteer for Pasado's Safe Haven in Monroe, Washington. In her free time, she loves to read, play basketball, spend time with friends, and take her dog for long walks!

• Simone Thomas

  Senior

  Simone enjoys spending time on the tennis court, singing and dancing in musicals, teaching lagree at Studio 45, and hanging out with her friends and family. Throughout her life, Simone has dealt with a substantial amount of death for someone her age, influencing her to give this talk.
