• Angelika Wills

  Student

  Angelika is a senior student with a passion for words and language. Drawing from her experience in public speaking and student leadership, Angelika will be giving a talk about talking. Angelika hopes to convince the audience to join her on the journey of choosing words with intent to express ourselves more effectively.

• Jake Lee

  Student

  As a Grade 12 student, Jake found himself facing the heavy pressure of choosing a definitive career path. This moment sparked a deep fear of settling for an "ordinary life" just to feel secure. Inspired by his own struggle against the expectation of stability, his talk challenges us to stop treating life like a predictable mathematical formula. Jake is passionate about changing how we view achievement and letting go of rigid expectations.

  Jia is a grade 11 student who has always had a passion for preservation. For as long as she can remember, she has been capturing moments with a camera, a journal, or countless shared albums, desperate to preserve every moment of happiness forever. On the outside, it seemed harmless and perfect, but as she got the opportunity to reflect, she understood that the nostalgia evoked from these memories is often disillusioned, leading her to compile her thoughts into a thought-provoking speech attempts to explain how the way people view their past affects how they view themselves.

  Katrina is a passionate Grade 10 student who spends time investigating the fascinating nuances of fandoms. She immerses herself in online culture, giving her expertise in the world of online fandoms.

• Nicola Butler

  Nicola is a grade 11 student at OT, who loves hanging out with friends, and photoshoots in moderation. This talk was inspired by taking a hundred photos in 1 hour and completely running out of storage.

• Richard Yim

  Richard is a Grade 12 student passionate about fulfillment and happiness. Over the summer, Richard took a Psychology course about mental health and well-being. He has been applying a lot of what he learned in his day-to-day life, and wants to share it with others!

• Riyana Mahanta

  Riyana is a 17 year old expat student who loves to read, rewatch sitcoms and listen to music. With all the media and culture she consumes, Riyana also loves to create with it; which inspired her talk. She believes in being true to your passions, not doing what's glamorous on a resume.   Ryan is a Grade 10 student from OTHS. In his free time, he loves to play piano, read/write stories, and listen to music. Above all, he is a creative person who enjoys contributing to his community and the world.

• Thanh Takacs

  Thanh's greatest passion is learning, whether it is math, science, programming, mechanical repair, and especially history. He hopes to one day become a teacher and get others excited to learn new things. This passion, combined with his family fleeing from an authoritarian regime led to him creating his TEDx Talk, in an effort to shine some light on one of histories less talked about figures in the hopes that we wont keep repeating the same mistakes.
