Is Seeing Still Believing? How Much Do Our Senses Challenge Our Certainties?

Took placeAugust 25, 2026

Is Seeing Still Believing? When the senses challenge our certainties. In a time of accelerated transformation, reality is no longer something we simply observe. It is interpreted, mediated, simulated, disputed and, increasingly, redesigned. What we see may inform us, deceive us, move us or transform us. But seeing alone is no longer enough. TEDxGoiânia 2026 invites audiences to question how we perceive the world, how evidence is constructed, and how human experience is shaped by science, technology, culture, memory and imagination. Rooted in Central Brazil and open to global challenges, this independently organized TEDx event will bring together powerful ideas, personal stories, artistic performances and interdisciplinary reflections on one central question: is seeing still believing? We will explore three thematic axes: Technology, Perception and Reality How artificial intelligence, digital media, open-source tools, data systems and immersive technologies are changing the way we produce knowledge, make decisions, trust information and understand what is real. Care, Health and Human Experience How innovation in health, community-based care, emotional well-being and public systems expands the meaning of healing beyond hospitals, integrating scientific evidence with lived experience, culture, spirituality and human connection. Culture, Territory and Scientific Imagination How artists, educators, researchers and communities from urban peripheries, rural areas and the Brazilian Cerrado translate complex ideas into music, poetry, images, narratives and civic dialogue, democratizing knowledge and expanding the boundaries of imagination. With a vibrant mix of TEDx Talks, performances and artistic interventions, TEDxGoiânia 2026 will celebrate the creative intelligence of Central Brazil and offer a platform for ideas that connect perception, territory, resilience and the future.
