"Race Against the Hourglass" talks about the urgency of time in shaping our choices, goals, and responsibilities. The theme reflects how young people today navigate academic pressure, global challenges, personal growth, and the fast-changing world around them. Like sand slipping through an hourglass, time moves forward without waiting for anyone; it pushes us to act with purpose, resilience, and awareness. The event will highlight how individuals can make a meaningful impact despite limited time, emphasizing agency, reflection, and forward-thinking action. In Mozambique, this theme is especially relevant. Young people face both significant challenges and powerful opportunities, from educational access and economic development to climate vulnerability, technological growth, and social change. Students are not only preparing for personal success but are also part of a generation that will shape the country’s future. The theme invites speakers to reflect on how Mozambican youth can use their time, voice, and potential to contribute positively back to their communities.

  • Aiden Morgado

    Student

    Born in the United States, Ayden Morgado is an 11-year-old Grade 5 student. He enjoys football, writing stories, and playing video games, while also learning the importance of taking care of himself.

  • Dorsa Khaksar

    Student

    Dorsa is a DPI student recognized for her leadership and creativity. She has led initiatives, including organizing a science fair, and is passionate about science, environmental issues, and philosophy. Dorsa aspires to become someone whose work meaningfully impacts society and inspires others.

  • Juhi Jain

    Environmentalist

    Juhi Jain is a public policy professional with over a decade of experience building evidence-based programs in government, philanthropy, and advisory across the Global South. She led the Government of India's Mission LiFE, a billion-person climate behavior-change campaign co-launched by India’s Prime Minister and the UN Secretary-General, and has worked at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation's policy advocacy and behavior insights team. She now serves as Director at Busara, leading climate resilience programs across Africa and the Global South. Juhi has represented India in international policy dialogues, including the EUVP and the Australia-India Youth Dialogue, and is a Salzburg Global Fellow.

  • Naail Lakani

    Student

    Naal Lakhani is a grade 10 student interested in technology and environmental sustainability. He is passionate about using digital innovation to solve real-world challenges and has participated in initiatives that promote environmental awareness, youth leadership, and positive community impact.

  • Rand Alshihawi

    Student

    Rand has been passionate about drama since she was 9 years old, participating in many festivals as an actress. She spreads meaningful messages through theatre, believing it is a free space where she can become any character with different perspectives. She dreams of giving this opportunity to other young adults, helping them break the chains that hold them back from becoming who they truly want to be or staying silent when their voice is their strongest weapon.

  • Sidharth Nair

    Student

    Born in India, Sidath is a Grade 5 student who enjoys singing, outdoor activities, and board games. Loves exploring new places, hopes to become an actor, enjoys the arts, has two dogs, dreams of a hamster, and believes in never giving up.
