We all grow up with boundaries—some we see, like school walls or city limits, and others we don’t, like expectations, stereotypes, and self-doubt. These invisible lines often tell us what we can and can’t do, where we belong, and how far we’re allowed to dream. But what if real growth begins when we step outside those lines? Beyond Boundaries is a theme that dares us to challenge limits—whether they’re set by society, geography, or our minds. It’s about students who choose unconventional paths, artists who break the mould, and young changemakers who turn “impossible” into “I’m possible.” This TEDx event will bring together voices that encourage us to think bigger, go further, and believe that there’s always something more waiting—just beyond the boundary.

  • Dr. Ruveda Salam

    Hailing from conflict-ridden Kupwara in Kashmir, she turned adversity into an inspiring journey of excellence. She made history as the first woman IPS Officer from J&K, later joining the Indian Revenue Service as Joint Commissioner of Income Tax, Srinagar. A Doctor by training and a Civil Servant by passion, she has represented India at the G20 Youth Summit in Sydney, won multiple national accolades including the President of India's 'First Lady IPS' Award and champions youth empowerment through education and sports. Her journey is a testament to courage, perseverance and service to the nation.

  • Maj. Samar Pall Toorr

    An Indian Army Officer and Gallantry Awardee who braved the icy heights of Siachen, defended UN peacekeepers in wartorn South Sudan, and led daring counter-terror missions in Kashmir. He is decorated with the Chief of Army Staff Commendation Card. His heroic life story is now captured in the film "Malakal".

  • Mr. Omar Abdullah

    A fearless mountaineer from Jammu and Kashmir etched her name in history by becoming the oldest Indian woman to scale Mount Everest at the age of 53, is a true symbol of resilience, determination, and women’s empowerment.

  • Ms. Sunita Thawani

    Renowned legal professional & corporate leader. Former Deputy General Manager (Legal) at JUSCO. Founder & CEO of Full Circle and initiator of JuscoWomen@Work is empowering women leaders and promoting lifelong learning.

  • Prof. (Dr.) Shakti Kumar Gupta

    He is a renowned Hospital Administrator, Researcher and Healthcare Reformer from Poonch, J&K. An alumnus of AIIMS and GMC Jammu, he has led key national health initiatives, authored nine books, mentored over 45 scholars and contributed to healthcare systems in India and abroad. He played a pivotal role in formulating the National Ambulance Code, establishing trauma centres and standardising hospital administration education. He is the Founder-President of RFHHA and the first Indian to receive Germany's International Partner of the Year Award.

  • Prof. Amitabh Mattoo

    A Padma Shree Awardee, renowned academic and public intellectual, the youngest-ever Vice-Chancellor of the University of Jammu. He has held key positions at Oxford, Stanford and the University of Melbourne, where he founded the Australia India Institute. A trusted advisor to Prime Ministers on foreign policy and peace-building.
