• Amirul Merican

  Mr Amirul Merican was a Shell scholar, graduated from the University of Cambridge with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and Energy, Sustainability and the Environment (MEng, BA). Drawing from the experiences he acquired as a Strategy and Consulting Analyst at Accenture - where he commenced his career - Mr Amirul then co-founded BioLoop in 2020. This startup specialises in manufacturing sustainable Black Soldier Fly Larvae products such as insect protein and organic fertiliser. Later in 2024, he joined Qarbotech’s founding team, advancing biocompatible Carbon Quantum Dots technology to enhance photosynthesis in leafy plants. The company emphasises on assisting farmers boost their yields, and combating climate change with its patented nanotechnology. As an alumnus of Kolej Yayasan UEM (Class of 2014), Mr Amirul continues to drive innovation in finding sustainable solutions in agritech.
