• Hugo Martinez

  Hugo Martinez is a passionate educator, multimedia expert, and the driving force behind one of the most innovative high school media programs in the country. As a proud alumnus and current teacher at Bonita Vista High School, Hugo has transformed student storytelling through a dynamic Career & Technical Education (CTE) Multimedia Pathway—empowering students to lead live broadcasts, produce award-winning films, and build real-world skills in a rapidly evolving media landscape. Named BVHS Teacher of the Year in 2025, Hugo brings a rich background as a former youth mentor, nonprofit manager, and entrepreneur. His teaching philosophy centers on building students first, fostering creativity, community, and a no-excuses mindset that equips youth to take charge of their future. From running student-led TEDx events to coaching multimedia teams into industry-level productions, Hugo’s work is proof that with vision and mentorship, schools can become launchpads for the next generation of changemakers.

  A 17-year-old weightlifter and junior who loves exploring eclectic perspectives—whether through public speaking, literature, or relationships themselves. She talks about resonating deeply with the Greek figure Sisyphus; she believes growth is never really finished, and that’s the beauty of it
