    Boon Breyne is a climate justice activist at Fridays For Future & Youth For Climate. Boon, born in Ypres, Belgium, grew up as a car enthusiast, but turned away from that world with an intense feeling of betrayal. As a mechanical engineer, he now aims to leverage his analytical thinking and drive to dive deep into problems into helping to unravel the greatest challenge human society has ever faced.

    As a young professional, trained in pedagogy, political science and conflict resolution, Natalie aims to advocate for the dignity and rights of the most vulnerable. In her research as well as her project- and fieldwork, she has dedicated special attention to intersectional issues of people affected by climate change, the situation of women and girls, young people and children, and migrants and refugees.

  • Wim Thiery

    Research Professor on Climate Science

    Wim Thiery is a climate scientist with a specific interest in modelling extreme events in a changing climate. From 2015 to 2018, he was a Postdoctoral Fellow at ETH Zurich. In 2017, he was appointed as research professor at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel, where he established the BCLIMATE Group. His expertise includes climate change, climate extremes, climate modelling, land-atmosphere interactions, storm early warnings, energy meteorology, and global-scale climate impact modelling. Forbes magazine recently elected him as a member of the “Forbes 30 under 30 Europe” Class of 2017, bringing together “the brightest young entrepreneurs, innovators and game changers in Europe”.
