Claus Ekstrøm, PhD
Claus is a statistician who develops and uses mathematical models to dig beneath the data in order to understand the world around him. He will be talking about the uncertainty surrounding us in everyday life and how perhaps it's time to embrace it.
Laura Martí Perez, PhD
During the month of October, all across the world, individuals with Down Syndrome and their beloved ones celebrate Down Syndrome Awareness Month. This is an opportunity to raise awareness of the accomplishments and challenges faced by those diagnosed with this condition. In social media you may encounter some hashtags and expressions related to this, like "Love doesn't count chromosomes" or "The lucky few", but what do those really mean? Laura, teacher at our school, and lucky to love two people with DS, wants to share her view, hoping to deliver a message of acceptance and open-mindedness.
Marcia Clare Allison, PhD
Marcia is an Assistant Professor of Rhetoric and 2021-24 Aarhus Institute for Advanced Studies Fellow at Aarhus University. Dr Allison’s work explores how social change is a rhetorical process influenced by the media, political ideology, and cultural history. She gives talks across Europe and the Anglophone world on how to create social change on the key issues of the so-called culture wars: the climate crisis, politics, gender, and social inequalities. Dr Allison is also a staunch advocate for disability rights in academia, medicine, and the environmental movement. She will be talking about the communication crisis related to the IPCC report.
