TEDxUniTO joins TEDx community and explores the land of the Internet of People. We need strength to recover the human factor, pervasively obscured by the overwhelming enthusiasm technology has brought into the Digital Era. The interest in things has surprisingly exceeded the interest in people. Internet of things is today the most popular metaphor used to describe the avant-gardes in application fields in the digital world. TEDxUniTO begins from a fundamental key word in the Network Society paradigm: connection. In this perspective, technology becomes a medium that gathers individuals, groups and social movements, which consequently emerge as new protagonists in the world of the high media connection. The engine of the individual emancipation is, indeed, the empowerment of these social actors, that allows them to become active subjects and essential social networks hubs. TEDxUniTO ‘s ideas perfectly fit with Jenny Judge and Julia Powels’ call in their article on “The Guardian”: «Forget the Internet of things – We need an Internet of People». Their long-sighted article shows how the two researchers from Cambridge wished for a digital Bauhaus, being able to finally reconnect technological development, people’s actual needs and community evolution. The main theme of our TEDx Conference is the relationship between technology and society in the network Era. Our speakers will talk about connections between social and media networks where changes due to the Network society can find their greater effectiveness. Our focus will then be on collective and collaborative knowledge creation and organization practices; it will also be about the evolution of science, theoretical and practical knowledge; It will be on non-conventional structures of social and political life; we will focus on the brand new forms of narrations and on communication that can now become rarefied and incredibly demanding; we will talk about creativity as the impulse for cultural changes and a precious resource for development; about sharing economy and business for innovation; about the actual definition of a culture of legality; about how we can elaborate a collective memory within a so divided media context.

  • Davide Bonazzi

    Illustrator

    Davide Bonazzi has worked as freelance illustrator for clients worldwide including major publishers, advertisers, institutions and animation studios. Born and raised in Bologna, Italy, first earning a degree at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of the University of Bologna, he also studied Illustration in Milan at IED - European Institute of Design and at the Academy of Fine Arts of Bologna. His style combines digital and mixed media with textures of scanned found objects, in order to give his bold conceptual illustrations a warm and evocative atmosphere. His work has been recognized by The Society of Illustrators of New York and Los Angeles, Communication Arts, American Illustration, 3x3 Magazine, Creative Quarterly Journal. He has been recently featured in ​Lürzer's Archive 200 Best Illustrators Worldwide 2016/17.
