True to its mission of being an institution that provides quality education for the industrial and socio-economic development of Mindanao with its diverse cultures, MSU-Iligan Institute of Technology hosts its first TEDx event this year. This university-led TEDx event will focus on Mindanao being dubbed as the Land of Promise since the 1990s. "Mindanao is the second largest island and is seen by many Filipinos as a frontier — a dangerous place but also a LAND OF PROMISE. It evokes contrasting images of bounty and want, of war and peace, of rapid development amid the increasing impoverishment of its people." - Macapado Muslim & Rufa Cagoco-Guiam (1999) TEDxMSUIIT will provide the platform to share the idea that Mindanao has been true to its claim to be the Land of Promise. This will be done through six talks on various topics to be delivered by speakers believed to be embodiment of who a Mindanaoan is.
