Mr. Najam Sethi
Mr. Najam Sethi is an award winning Pakistani journalist, editor and media personality, the editor-in-chief of The Friday Times; a Lahore based political weekly, and previously the editor of Daily Times and Daily Aajkal newspapers. He also has a popular current-affairs program on Geo TV called “Aapas ki Baat”. Mr. Najam Sethi has won the 1999 International Press Freedom Award of the US-based Committee to Protect Journalists & the 2009 World Association of Newspapers’ Golden Pen of Freedom Award. He has graduated from Government College University in Lahore and has done his masters in economics from Cambridge University.
Jazib Zahir
Jazib currently serves as Chief Operations Officer of Tintash (Pvt) Ltd, a technology startup that develops applications for mobile devices. He is also the Business Development Advisor for D.light Design, a multinational social enterprise that has recently set up distribution of solar-powered consumer products for off-grid populations around Pakistan. He is an Adjunct Professor at Lahore University of Management Sciences where he teaches courses on Personal Effectiveness and Business Communication. He is an active journalist, public speaker and mentor of students and entrepreneurs in the community. He has several years of experience in teaching, counseling, and working in diverse sectors including telecommunications, online marketing and social enterprises.
Hina Jilani
A quick search of the internet would tell you that Hina Jillani is "is an advocate of the Supreme Court of Pakistan and a human-rights activist". The reality of her role and involvement in the humanitarian scene, however, runs far deeper than this. Human-Rights activist, Women's right activist, advocate, and expert in critical human rights investigations, Hina Jilani is a figure who has quite literally, seen it all. As a result their work in the field of women's activism, she has been arrested, received death threats, and faced hostile propaganda, intimidation and public abuse, yet has remained steadfast in her stance against the systematic oppression of women in all societies the world over, but particularly Pakistan. From 'UN Center for Human Rights defenders'-affiliate to member of the international group of statesmen, peace activists and human rights advocates known as "the Elders", Hina Jilani has an international and historical presence that not many people can lay claim to, and is as such, right at home among the international personalities that constitute the speaker-lineups for TEDx events.
Sher Ali Khan
Sher Ali Khan is a journalist working for the Express Tribune covering cinema and music. Prior to working at the Tribune, Sher Ali worked at the Friday Times as a Current Affairs and Features reporter, directly reporting to Raza Rumi. He has also contributed extensively to Daily Times and Viewpoint online as a freelance journalist. Currently, Sher Ali is known more for his work related to Pakistani cinema and music. He has investigated the state involvement, global dynamics of film and the nascent film movements that are taking place in the country. His cover-story in the Tribune Magazine which he co-authored with Hashim Bin Rashid, Goonda Raj, received recognition from several leading film theorists and academics. He has over 400 published reports related to cinema and music. Born and raised in Thousand Oaks, California. Sher Ali attended UC Riverside where he was the President of the Pakistani Student Association and Executive Outreach Director for Amnesty International. He was also Staff reporter for the university newspaper Highlander news.
Zara Shahjahan
Zara Shahjahan started her design career in 2004 after graduating from the prestigious National College of Arts (NCA) in Lahore. Over the years her design house has grown beyond borders due to her understanding of different cultural genres of style. She opened her flagship store in her home town of Lahore in Spring 2012. Zara's specialization in the study of Miniature Arts at NCA has greatly honed her skills and eye for detail as a pattern maker. She covers all the bases of Luxury Pret, Western wear, and Couture with equal grace. She is passionate about everything vintage which she blends with her own unique style mantra. Her couture collections are extravagantly detailed with Gara embroideries, Swarovski crystals, and authentic hand crafted embellishments.
