To feed a projected 9.8 billion people by 2050, agriculture must produce 70 percent more food while using fewer resources. Indoor vertical farming offers a breakthrough by growing vegetables in stacked layers inside controlled environments, saving hundreds of liters of water per kilogram compared to conventional methods. These farms can be built in unused urban spaces, from shipping containers in deserts to empty office corners in city centers. As technology advances, vertical farming could make fresh, safe produce accessible even in underserved communities.
