Bio
II am a physician who advises international organizations in the best practice of providing health services to their global workforce. I research, create and implement plans and programs which reduce employee global health risks, thereby improving outcomes and advancing a positive global health agenda. I opened and ran the first western medical clinics in the former Soviet Union - based in Moscow, St. Petersburg and Kiev - for 5 years. I then ran the regional medical services for International SOS based in Beijing, China, which included clinics in Beijing, Tianjin and Nanjing, and training hundreds of Chinese physicians, and implementing over 50 remote site medical operations. I have been in the USA for over 10 years now, advising North America based organizations in how to support their employee's health globally. In particular, developed pandemic plans for over 300 companies and became a leading expert in health incident planning. Recently working with organizations in programs to prevent international health incidents and improve employee health, wellness and productivity. Speaker and media expert on global health issues - CNN, CNBC, etc.
I'm passionate about
Having lived and worked in developing countries, I am passionate about addressing the issue of the healthcare disparity globally, and the role organizations can play in advancing the agenda.
An idea worth spreading
As organizations expand their operations globally, their responsibility to provide effective duty of care to their staff becomes increasingly challenging. Healthcare varies widely, and organizations must ensure that quality medical care is available and accessible wherever they live and work. Research we are doing reveals that the risk of medical evacuation increases nearly 25 fold when an employee is working in a developing country than stationed in a developed nation. Therefore, organizations need to focus priority on enhancing and supporting their personnel in high medical risk countries, and in many cases this may include building private-public partnerships to deliver adequate care to their entire community. A win-win for all.
