Lisa Garney

Lisa Garney attended the London School of Economics, holds a B.S. in Business Administration and Management from the University of Kansas, and a law degree from UMKC School of Law. She is a Licensed Master Plumber and Certified Concrete Batch Plant Manager. In March, Lisa was elected as President of Kansas City’s Women Construction Owners and Executives (WCOE) chapter. After working in the 1992 White House administration, her long career in the Kansas City region began as a project manager for her family's 600-acre mixed use development. She subsequently went on to earn a law degree and worked as a legal associate specializing in land use law. She became very skilled in the navigation of state & local legislative affairs, developer public finance tools, permitting, zoning, affirmative action and construction law. Thereafter, Lisa used her legal and public project knowledge to manage the construction and municipal relations involved with the urban core redevelopment “Beacon Hill.” Her work on Beacon Hill earned her and Kansas City a National Council of Mayors Partnership Award. Following her success with Beacon Hill, Lisa oversaw operations on a 600-acre multi-use real estate TIF development. Lisa, a leader in program and construction management, founded LMG Professional Services LLC, in 2000. LMG Professional Services has a diverse portfolio of projects including partnering with Keen Research and the City Construction and Fairness Board on workforce utilization. Lisa’s company is currently hiring augmentation staffing for the New Terminal Development Program for KCI. In 2007 Lisa founded LMG Construction. Over the subsequent decade LMG has grown to be one of the leading WBE contractors, construction managers, and program managers in the region, with a diverse portfolio of projects, including aviation, industrial and commercial construction. Primarily focused on commercial plumbing, Lisa has also worked as a GC on MILCON projects. Lisa founded G2 Construction in 2012, a concrete company with experience manufacturing and placing civil and structural ready-mix concrete. G2 is experienced with street scape, airfields, large utility and federal contracts. Lisa is a recognized leader in the construction industry. In addition to running her companies, all of which are WBE/DBE certified, Lisa works tirelessly to increase education on skilled trades as well as promote opportunities for women, minorities, and construction entities in the KC plumbing and general construction market. LMG University was another creation of Lisa’s, developed as an in-house skilled-trades training program for her own staff. Passionate about investing in women, Lisa was instrumental in forming the Kansas City chapter of WCOE and wants to empower women as entrepreneurs and executives as well as energize the advancement of construction workforce development.
