Bio

I'm the director of Stanford University's Effective Philanthropy Lab, and the Senior Designer of Stanford's Hasso Plattner Institute of Design's (the d.school) Designing for Social Systems Program. I returned to Stanford in 2012 as an inaugural d.school fellow, and was then named the Walter and Esther Hewlett Design Fellow with Stanford PACS. I work at the intersection of systems thinking, design thinking, strategic planning, and leadership development to help foundations and nonprofit increase their desired impact. I facilitate design thinking strategy workshops for foundations, nonprofit organizations and businesses around the world. I'm a serial social entrepreneur, previously launching several initiatives including the American Muslim Civic Leadership Institute at the University of Southern California (USC), the Building Bridges Program at the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation, and the Initiative for Policy Dialogue with Nobel Laureate Joseph Stiglitz at Columbia University. I serve on the board member of the El Hibri Foundation, and on the advisory board member of Ascent Private Capital Management. I live in San Francisco, CA.
