The TED story

Have worked as Project Manager along side Joseph Ranseth, Chair of TEDxExchangeDistrict for over two years. Joseph is also my cousin. He asked me if I would manage TEDxExchangeDistrict at a meeting at NorthForge, a big Winnipeg innovation generator in the ExchangeDistrict, the heart of exchange in Canada for over a hundred years. Wikipedia exerpt; The Exchange District’s name originates from the Winnipeg Grain Exchange, the former centre of the grain industry in Canada, as well as other commodity exchanges which developed in Winnipeg between 1881–1918, some of which are still active today.[3] (see Winnipeg Commodity Exchange) Winnipeg was one of the fastest growing cities in North America around the turn of the 20th century. The city became known as the Chicago of the North. Much of Winnipeg’s remaining architecture of the late 1800s and early 1900s is heavily influenced by the Chicago style.[3] By 1911, Winnipeg had become the third largest city in Canada. At the time it had more than two dozen rail lines converging near the city centre along with over 200 wholesale businesses.[3]" We are so proud and delighted with the programming and direction provided to us as independent organizers. Our first main live event in October 2017 at Pantages Playhouse theatre in Winnipegs historic Exchange District was a resounding success. Has been a real pleasure getting to know the TED brand, sharing in this great communications platform. Over twenty years and now able to harness the power of the internet and communications like never before.
