About Miguel
Bio
Miguel Fidalgo is the Founder and Chief Investment Officer of Project X. His investment interests span digital health, telemedicine, the broader Boston innovation ecosystem, as well as a variety of investable themes in public markets. Miguel is a regular guest lecturer at HBS and MIT Sloan, as well as a speaker at a number of marquee investor conferences such as the Robin Hood Investors Conference and the Sohn Canada Investment Conference. He is also active as an angel investor and advisor to various startups in the Boston area.
Before founding Project X, Miguel put in his 10,000 hours over more than a decade learning the investment trade at two storied hedge funds: The Baupost Group and Farallon Capital. He has invested all over the globe, from Argentina to Iceland and Japan. The first stock he ever bought was Apple back in 1999. He sold it too soon.
Miguel moved to the US from Portugal by himself at the age of seventeen. His guitar was his carry on. He once spent a summer living on a tent in Alaska and took a Greyhound bus from Seattle to New York, which took three and a half days. As a hedge fund executive later in life, Miguel occasionally busked in the streets of Boston (finance doesn’t pay the way it used to). He founded Fidalgo Vineyards in Argentina in 2012 and strongly believes science is yet to discover the full health benefits derived from the regular consumption of red wine.
I'm passionate about
Life sciences revolution. In 30 years we will look back at current medicine as the equivalent of horse-drawn buggies before the advent of the automobile.
An idea worth spreading
Humankind is currently only realizing 2% of its potential productivity.
