An Educator and researcher working as a Lecturer in Secondary Education Department at Allama Iqbal Open University. My doctorate is in Teacher Education. I began my career as a school teacher and worked for a year at "Education Centre", later I worked for four years as an English and Science teacher at Convent of Jesus and Mary and then as the academic head of the Primary section for next six years at the very same institution. During my tenure there I laid the foundation of the pre primary section.

The present role of teachers and teacher educators and what it should be

Quality education is the need of the day; through which everyone should have the right to fulfill their dreams and aspirations in becoming a productive member of the society.

I was born in a middle class Pakistani family with four siblings out of which three were female and I was the eldest among them. I completed my studies till graduation from very good institutions but after that got married as in my family girls are married at an early age. I was married to a well settled doctor (medical practitioner) and was blessed with two sons. I was leading a happy life where all my needs were being looked after by my husband. When both my sons started school I felt that I had a lot of time on my hands, so I decided to pursue my studies after a ten year break and got admission in B.Ed. at Allama Iqbal Open university as my family structure didn't allow me to go to a formal institution, along with my studies I started working as a teacher at Convent of Jesus and Mary. After my B.Ed. I did M.A, M.Phil and Ph.D in Teacher Education from the same institution. Later in 2015 I got selected on open merit at the post of Lecturer at the very same institution. Today I am proud of myself as both my sons are in medical schools pursuing their careers, but all this would not have been possible without the relentless support of my husband and family. I believe that being married with children should not stop any female from chasing her dreams as it is her own will and poise that paves the way to success.
