Successful communication requires both parties, the sender and the receiver, to participate in a two-way interactional exchanges. The art of communication provides us with the general foundation for establishing and building relationships, both professional and personal. In the workplace, communication is essential for employee retention, engagement, productivity, and innovation across industries. A common thread among successful organizations is frequent, high-quality communication among all stakeholders. Effective global leaders must embrace interdisciplinary collaboration and open methods of communication. For example, knowledge exchanges among colleagues is an excellent example of how successful communication facilitates productivity through discussion and dialogue (Lunenburg, 2010). I’m excited to explore how we can target effective communication among stakeholders to positively impact both personal and interpersonal relationships. Studies confirm the association between two-way communication, employee performance and productivity, beyond that which would occur from chance.
