RIDWAN ADELAJA, 3rd Place Winner, 2018 Korea-Nigeria Poetry Prize, is a media and communications strategist with extensive experience in media relations, crisis communications, and strategic messaging. He is a former TedxIsalegeneral Event Manager, currently serving as Media Aide to the Honourable Minister of Interior, Hon. (Dr.) Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo. With a background in journalism, Ridwan has worked in various media houses in Nigeria to include Ventures Africa, Nairametrics, Ripples Nigeria, Arbiterz, Podium News, Techparley, MCR, CBA TV, and NTA, where he demonstrated his skills in storytelling, content creation, editorial judgement, and audience engagement. His expertise, skills and strength includes: - Media relations and crisis communications - Strategic messaging and brand management - Content creation and storytelling - Social media management and digital communications - Crisis management and reputation management - Political communications and public affairs - Excellent writing, editing, and verbal communication skills - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills - Team and project management In addition to his government experience, Ridwan has also served as PR Manager for various startups and businesses, helping craft compelling narratives, manage complex reputations, and build strong media relationships. His experience in both media and government has equipped him with a unique understanding of the intersection of politics, business, media, and public policy. Prior to his foray into PR, he worked as a full-time business and technology journalist, with well over 2000 copies across various multimedia platforms, focusing on startups, VCs, products, founders, political developments and innovations around the African continent. During his stint at Ripples Nigeria, while serving as tech news correspondent and editor, he amplified the strides of African founders and investors alike. Today, he consults for startups, entrepreneurs, and public personalities seeking assistance on talent management, sales pitch development, executive pitch design, publicity strategy, monthly crisis assessment, brand sentiment analysis, media pitches, amongst other services to re-position business for future expansion. Ridwan holds a degree in Pure and Applied Physics from the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, an Industry Diploma in Broadcast Journalism from James Pikes International, UK, and is a Member of the Chartered Institute of Public Management of Nigeria (CIPMN).
