Bio

I am a Russian- Canadian immigrant and mother of two living in Vancouver, British Columbia. I am inspired by the cultural diversity of the Canadian population and believe that it is one of our greatest strengths, a real foundation for creativity. I have lived and travelled around the world and have a multi- cultural perspective on life, politics and business. I want to play a role in solving the world's challenges by actively promoting the ideas of entrepreneurs, artists and activists alike who view the world around us in a different way and try to carve out a new direction for our future. The goal of my digital marketing company 'Zero and One Media' is to do just that. I truly believe that each of us are shaped by our thoughts and ideas and it is through these ideas that we make the world.

I'm passionate about

Science, technology, politics, psychology , mental health, sustainability, travelling, education, self-education, fashion, communication, Russia

An idea worth spreading

Critical thinking involves stepping outside your own viewpoint for a moment to try to understand an alternative outlook. I believe children should be taught to think for themselves and to challenge ideas, concepts and even news stories. The concept of critical thinking is considered highly complex by modern day sociologists and psychologists. What is truly important is whether our education system interferes with our children’s rationality. I care deeply about how my children are taught in schools. Sure, us as parents and our kid’s teachers will influence our children morally (in a good way I hope)! What is concerning however, is that indoctrination begins when we are trying to inhibit the growth of our children to think for themselves. The future of democracy, science and economic prosperity depends on our children’s ability to think critically and independently.

The TED story

My first involvement in Ted was in 2015 when my husband and I co-hosted a rather large, not so intimate, party of Tedsters. Since then we have garnered many friendships within the TED community.
