An idea worth spreading
John Szarkowski's Five Elements of a Photograph - The Thing Itself, The Detail, The Frame, Time and Vantage Point. It can apply to any photograph and if you think about the five elements while taking a picture you create better photographs, whatever the camera you are using. Take a picture and then think about how you might change one or more of the elements to take a different picture.
The TED story
Although I was familiar with TED talks until I got involved in early 2015 I wasn't aware of the concept of TEDx - locally organised events under the TED banner. The idea is an excellent one - a team of local volunteers organise their own TEDx event and share ideas both locally and worldwide, once the videos of the talks are shared online. Having been part of the team in both 2015 and 2016 I was delighted to take on a more significant role this time round as one of the new leadership team. I'm looking forward to this year's event!
