Juan Gil

Born in 1975 in Guadalajara, México. He started working as an economist in the Central Bank of México while studying his bachelor degree. He was part of the program of currency hedges of the International Reserves of the country. Later, when he was 24, he became the CEO of a family owned firm with focus in the housing industry in the tourist site of Playa del Carmen, the firm was a startup and built and sold more than 3000 houses in the middle income segment with more than 20% share of the market. In 2012 he had the privilege of being part of the transition team of the President of Mexico in the Energy area, where important issues of the Energy reform later approved by the congress where settled. In 2013 he was appointed as COO of Infonavit, the largest mortgage bank in Latin America and one of the top 5 of the world. He was in charge of the collections and recovered housing areas. During his tenure Infonavit view was improved by Moody´s in the highest ranking (SQ1) from over the average to strong in credit administration. In 2016 he cofounded Connected Capital, a niche investment fund established in London with focus in Emerging Markets. He is now the head of the fund in Mexico. He is also an advisor to the Governor of the State of Oaxaca, Mexico, with special focus in developing their touristic potential. His not for profit activities includes been a member of the Board of the food Bank of Mexico City, and being teacher in the Finance field at the Anahuac University in Cancun. Mr Gil holds 2 Bachelor´s degree from the Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (ITAM), one in Economics and the other in Political Science. He also holds a Master in Business Administration jointly granted from the New York University, The London School of Economics and HEC Paris. He is happily married with Amanda Sepulveda and they have 3 wonderful children: Pia (16), Inés (13) and Juan Cristóbal (11).
