Paula Silver is the founder and CIO(chief Idea Officer) of Los Angeles-based Beyond the Box Productions. Formerly Sony Pictures studio marketing president and digital marketing guru, she has more than 25 years’ experience developing, producing, and marketing successful motion pictures and advertising campaigns. Most recently, Silver has applied her storytelling expertise as an MIT Media Lab Simplicity Fellow to the institution’s progressive technology. Her new venture with Dr. Cynthia Breazeal, the Director of Personal Robotics at MIT, has combined their diverse skills to create a new breed of media company in Raw Diamond, Inc. With a humanitarian’s eye and a gift for creative solutions, Paula prides herself on being a brand catalyst and change agent in communications, and applying the power of storytelling to cause-related work, social action, and especially the expanding STEM arena. Her special interest in teen and women’s issues prompted the option of Restless Virgins, currently in development with Lifetime Television. She used her longstanding Hollywood relationships to facilitate the United Nations’ First National Girls Conference, "Girls Speak Out," which addressed Girls in the Media, Girls' Rights, and Violence against Girls. She also was responsible for establishing Gaiam’s first LOHAS Conference in Los Angeles. Silver presently sits on the board of directors of the Women in Film Foundation, Mr. Holland’s Opus Foundation, Word Theater, Salt Lake City Film Center, Dr. Keith Black's Brain Trust at Cedars Sinai Medical Center, Peter Gabriel’s Witness Human Rights Watch, and Otis College.
