Bio
For more than 23 years, I've worked for Edelman, the world's largest privately held PR firm. As president and chief operating officer for the U.S., I play a leading role in the oversight of the firm's largest region, with more than 2,000 employees, a robust portfolio of blue chip clients, and seventeen different practice areas including consumer/brand marketing, corporate reputation management, healthcare and financial communications, technology and business marketing, public affairs, crisis management and multicultural marketing. In this capacity, I also oversee many of the region's business development efforts and provide management oversight and/or senior counsel for several of the region’s distinct operating units including MATTER (sports and entertainment), StrategyOne (research) and Ruth (creative services). I provide strategic counsel to a wide range of clients including Burger King, Wrigley, Humana, United Airlines, Kraft Foods, Quaker and SC Johnson. I'm part of the firm's Executive Committee and I oversee an Innovation subcommittee, one of eight strategy groups for the firm. In addition, I provide oversight for Edelman’s global digital business, which functions as an “agency within an agency” to provide best-in-class Web strategy and production, online marketing and social media programming for Edelman clients. Prior to my current role, I served as president of Edelman’s Midwest region, managing the firm’s co-headquarters in Chicago as well as its Dallas and Austin operations. During my tenure Edelman became the #1 ranked PR firm in Chicago. In 1995, I carved out a career-defining niche by spearheading Edelman’s drive to be the industry’s global leader in Web-based communications. I launched the firmm’s interactive division and positioned Edelman as the first major public relations firm to embrace the Web as a medium for marketing, communications and crisis management. Today Edelman Digital is itself a $50 million dollar business. In 2007, I managed the launch of Edelman Mobile, and in 2008, the launch of Edelman Studios, a virtual film studio that connects brands with emerging filmmakers. I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree in American Studies from the University of Notre Dame, and proudly serve on the boards of the Off the Street Club and the Adler Planetarium. I'm a member of The Chicago Network and the Executives Club of Chicago.. I live with my husband Eddie, fourteen-year-old twins Keegan and Kylie, and chocolate Labrador retriever Hawk in Chicago.
