Bio
I am a doctoral researcher in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Strathclyde having been awarded a research excellence award by the EPSRC in 2019. My project focuses on the use of accessible and cost-effective components such as inertial measurement units (IMUs), coupled with custom-made programs and gold standard motion capture technology to develop innovative stroke rehabilitation techniques.
Prior to undertaking my PhD, I completed an MSc in Biofluid Mechanics at the University of Strathclyde, graduating in November 2019 with Merit. During this time I undertook modules including Cardiovascular Devices, Haemodynamics for Engineers, Industrial Software and The Medical Device Regulatory Process.
I completed a BSc Chemistry at The University of Glasgow graduating in 2017. I thoroughly enjoyed my time at the University, gaining a wealth of practical skills in the laboratories of the Joseph Black building. During my Bachelor's, I completed a range of courses from Physics and Statistics for Science to comprehensive studies of physical, inorganic and organic chemistry.
I am the incoming chair of the Doctoral Researchers' Group at the University of Strathclyde and I am also co-organiser for TEDxStrathclyde. I am to build on the success of conferences in previous years, working with a fantastic team to deliver an outstanding and relevant event in 2021.
