About Craig
Bio
I have more than two decades of experience communicating clearly; effecting change; managing people; envisioning and directing technology programs; leading and championing organizations; and fostering transparency and innovation.
I'm on the organizing team for TEDxMidAtlantic in Washington, DC, where I've volunteered since 2012 after first attending TED@State in 2009.
By day, I'm the Director of Communications and Public Information for the City of Alexandria, Va., where I've worked since 2003. I'm a Court-Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) for children and volunteer in politics and my faith community. I co-chair the Sorensen Institute for Political Leadership’s regional board, was an appointee of two governors to the Virginia Freedom of Information Advisory Council, and am the immediate past president of the Virginia Coalition for Open Government.
I hold a bachelor’s degree from Virginia Tech and a master’s degree in public administration (MPA) from George Mason University. In my free time, I'm a Washington Nationals season ticketholder and an inconsistent triathlete.
