Bio
Paul Faeth is the President of the Global Water Challenge, a coalition of 22 leading organizations trying to catalyze change by leveraging resources and opportunities. Our mission is to generate a global movement to meet the urgent need for safe water and sanitation by spurring collective awareness and investment in innovation by corporate, public and nongovernmental actors. GWC focuses on collaborative learning, connecting leaders, and investing in sustainable, replicable, and scaleable projects.
Before joining the GWC in January 2007, Faeth was Executive Vice President and Managing Director of the World Resources Institute for five years. He was responsible for day-to-day operations at WRI including human resources, finances, operations and strategic planning, and supported external functions including fundraising and public relations.
I'm passionate about
Reducing poverty, creating sustainable livelihoods, my family, great blues & rock 'n roll, Florida football. (Since I originally wrote this, the Gators have become the NATIONAL CHAMPS!!)
An idea worth spreading
Using private capital to bring safe drinking water and keep it safe to serve markets at the base of the pyramid ( http://www.changemakers.net/node/1828/ ). We are trying to financial models and potentia opportunities to meet a critcal need for health and economic prosperity. This is different from water privatization, because we want to focus on community-based systems providing services to the poor but they community maintains ownership of the resources.
