About Steven

Bio

Steven Michael Marx Shaw has been a designer of exhibitions for thirteen years, with a focus of experience in museum, tradeshow, retail, and visitor center environments. His work combines elements of architectural dynamics, story-telling dialogue, and brand character to create environments that achieve “effectiveness, appropriateness and surprise.” At exhibitgroup/giltspur and élan communications Steven worked as both a Senior Designer and Creative Director on domestic and international projects for companies such as LG, Bayer, Hershey’s International, United States Postal Service, and MasterCard International. Steven’s museum experience began in 1994 with Staples & Charles, where he worked on an immersive exhibition for the South African Breweries Centenary Centre in Johannesburg, South Africa. Later, Steven joined Thinc Design to work on projects for the Field Museum in Chicago, and the Steinhart Aquarium at the California Academy of Science in San Francisco. Before concentrating his energies on exhibition design, Steven worked as an architect in Cologne, Germany, and holds a Bachelor of Architecture with university honors from Carnegie Mellon University. Steven is currently the Design Director at Thinc Design.
