I am a thinker, tinkerer, and creator whose through-line, across twenty years and three careers, is showing people the power of the platforms and tools that can expand what they're capable of, before conventional wisdom catches up. I did it in 2005 by co-founding BlogHer — bootstrapped two years, scaled to ~$30M in revenue and 5,000-person events, exited by acquisition — and I do it now by building my own personal AI-powered tools and teaching others to build theirs, getting ideas on their feet, scratching chronic itches, and removing small points of friction that add up. This may be a challenging, even dangerous time, but it’s also an exciting time. BlogHer democratized media. The tools for democratizing *everything* are within our grasp. I want to help people unlock what that means for them, and I've been using myself as guinea pig in that effort. I write the weekly Buffy Life Lessons newsletter, co-authored Road Map for Revolutionaries: Resistance, Activism, and Advocacy for All (Ten Speed Press, 2018), and advise mission-driven organizations.
