Once upon a time I worked as a journalist and features writer at the Cyprus Mail newspaper in Nicosia. It was a job that involved anything but sitting at a desk for 8 hours a day and I enjoyed it immensely. Interviewing people from all walks of life, meeting others that have had a huge impact on my life and my growth, working under the pressure of a deadline and producing stories have all played a vital role in who I have become. But after seven years something a tad more exciting made its way into my life. My son. I experienced a shift and decided to become a stay-at-home-mum and focus on other things during this stage in my life. Writing and creating though could never cease to be an important part of who I am so I combined my two passions. Today I write about motherhood and other lifestyle topics on my blog Georgie's Mummy, a local parenting platform that I am growing and expanding with love and dedication.

I discovered TED about five years ago and found it to be a great alternative to music. I like to put my headphones on and listen to a playlist of TED talks or have one playing in the background while I cook. Never in my wildest dreams did I think I could be part of this influential organisation so I was beyond excited and honoured to take on the role of TEDxNicosia blogger when asked.
