The TED story
I attended my first TED in 2005, and it literally changed my life by introducing me to the world of sustainable design, and the amazing TED community. It was there I met Bill McDonough, co-author of Cradle To Cradle. C2C changed the way I thought about how I make things, and set me on a path to change my business. At Timbuk2, I designed and manufactured the 2005 TED backpack, and the TED 2006 C2C messenger bag. With Rickshaw Bagworks, I designed and made the TED 2008 computer bag and debuted my company at TED. Rickshaw has made the bags for nine TED conferences (incl. Long Beach, India and Oxford). I rode my bicycle from SF to Long Beach — 525 miles — for TED 2009, 2010, 2011, and 2012. For the past 5 years I have been making custom bags for the TED Fellows.
