Bio

Umed Ali is a cybersecurity undergraduate at Sindh Madressatul Islam University (SMIU), Karachi. Alongside his studies, he serves as Secretary of the SMIU Literary Society and has been part of the TEDxSMIU organizing team, contributing to event planning, coordination, and operations. He is interested in how technology, human behavior, and different perspectives shape the way we understand and solve problems. As he develops his cybersecurity skills, his long-term goal is to specialize in cloud security and become a Cloud Security Architect.

I'm passionate about

I'm passionate about understanding how technology works, solving problems, and learning things independently. Cybersecurity interests me because it combines analytical thinking with the practical challenge of protecting people, data, and systems. My long-term goal is to specialize in cloud security and work toward becoming a Cloud Security Architect. I'm particularly interested in protecting cloud infrastructure, identities, and data, as well as exploring how artificial intelligence can strengthen cybersecurity and how AI systems themselves can be secured. I'm still early in my journey, so I value hands-on projects, experimentation, and learning from people with more experience. I'm also curious about human behavior and enjoy exploring why people think differently, how they make decisions, and what we can learn by looking beyond our own perspective.

An idea worth spreading

You don't have to agree with someone to learn something from them. We all see the world through our own experiences, which shape what we believe and how we understand others. Sometimes, listening to someone with a completely different perspective can reveal something we never considered. I believe being willing to question our assumptions is a strength. Listening doesn't mean we have to agree with everyone; it means being open enough to understand where someone else is coming from. We may not change each other's minds, but we can leave a conversation understanding a little more than we did before. And sometimes, that is where meaningful change begins.

Areas of expertise

Cybersecurity, Event Management, Incident Response, Leadership, Network Security, Project Coordination, Python, Security Operations (SOC), SIEM Monitoring, Threat Detection

Things you might not know

People don't know I'm good at teaching myself new things and noticing patterns in human behavior. I'm curious about why people think the way they do, how they react to different situations, and what their perspectives can tell us about them. I enjoy following a question down a rabbit hole, researching it independently, and connecting ideas from different places. I'm not a psychology expert, but understanding people and how they see the world is something I genuinely enjoy exploring.
