Elise Wagner

Educator/Teacher

Elise Wagner is a high school math teacher at Ector County ISD (ECISD) in Odessa, Texas, currently in her 10th year teaching. She teaches Algebra 2 Honors, IB Math Year 1, and IB Math Year 2, working with students in grades 9 through 12. Over the course of her career, she has also taught special education, general education, and newcomer students, giving her a broad perspective on how students learn and grow. She is passionate about helping students build confidence in math and think critically, and is excited to support student voices through TED-style events in her district.

I'm passionate about helping students see themselves as capable in math, especially the ones who've been told, or have told themselves, that they're "not a math person." Confidence is often the missing piece, and once students believe they can do it, everything else follows.
